We take pride in our history because it is a big part of who we are today. In 1955, farmer and WWII veteran Earl Schilling and his friend Jack Fraley formed a partnership that begun with hauling farm equipment on a flatbed trailer just outside of Indianapolis. Twenty-six years, a lot of hard work and 18 tractors later, Earl’s son Robert took over the reins.
It turns out that Robert’s determination, combined with his driver, dispatcher and mechanic experience; would really pay off. One of his first challenges was bringing the “ultralight” concept to Fraley & Schilling. He knew that by cutting the weight of the equipment, they would be able to haul more with less effort. This concept is still in practice today, operating with over 600 people across the eastern US.
